The Changes I Noticed the Most

  • My skin tone looked more even
  • My complexion appeared brighter
  • My redness looked calmer
  • My skin texture looked smoother
  • My overall skin looked healthier and more refreshed

Why I Decided to Try Red Light Therapy

As a registered nurse, I will fully admit I am naturally skeptical when it comes to health and wellness trends. I have spent my career looking at research, evidence, and the “why” behind treatments, so I’m not usually someone who jumps on the newest product just because it is popular online.

But red light therapy caught my attention because it wasn’t just another beauty trend. There is actual research behind how specific wavelengths of light interact with our cells, especially when it comes to supporting skin health, collagen production, inflammation, and cellular function.

So when I had the opportunity to try the RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT, I decided to commit to using it consistently and document my results.

My goal was simple: better skin.

I wasn’t expecting to wake up looking 20 years younger or have some dramatic overnight transformation. I just wanted my skin to look healthier, smoother, brighter, and more even.

As I get closer to 40, I’ve noticed the normal changes that come with aging: uneven tone, more redness, changes in texture, fine lines, and skin that just doesn’t have the same glow it used to.

My Routine: Simple Enough to Actually Stick With

One of my favorite things about the RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT is how easy it was to add into my routine. Because honestly, as a mom, nurse, and business owner, if something is complicated or takes too much time, I know I won’t stick with it.

I used the device for just 10 minutes every night using the pre-set Skin & Anti Aging mode. I loved that I didn’t have to research settings, adjust wavelengths, or guess what combination to use. The device already has performance modes built in, so I could select the Skin & Anti Aging setting and let it do the work.

Ten minutes became an easy part of my nighttime routine. No appointments. No downtime. No complicated steps. Just consistency.

My Results After 3 Months

I’ll be completely honest: the changes were gradual.

This wasn’t one of those treatments where I looked in the mirror the next morning and saw a completely different person. But I actually think that’s what made me trust the results more. Because real changes in the skin, especially changes involving collagen and overall skin quality, take time. When I compared my month one photo to my month three photo, that’s when I really noticed the difference.

My skin looked calmer. My tone looked more even. The redness and blotchy areas appeared improved, and the texture of my skin looked smoother. It wasn’t that my face looked different. It looked healthier. And honestly, that was exactly what I was hoping for.

After using the Total Spectrum COMPACT consistently, these were the biggest differences I noticed:

It was less of a “what did you have done?” result and more of a “your skin looks really good” type of change. And personally, that’s my favorite kind.

Why the Technology Matters

As a nurse, I always want to understand what is actually happening behind the scenes. One thing I appreciated about the RLT Home device is that it uses multiple wavelengths instead of just one type of light.

The Total Spectrum COMPACT includes:

  • Blue light (480nm): Targets the surface layers of the skin and is commonly used for concerns like acne-causing bacteria.
  • Red light (630nm and 660nm): These are the wavelengths I was most excited about for my personal goals. Red light therapy has been studied for its ability to support collagen production, improve the appearance of fine lines, and promote healthier-looking skin.
  • Near-infrared light (810nm, 830nm, and 850nm): These wavelengths penetrate deeper and are commonly studied for their role in inflammation, recovery, and cellular health.
  • Infrared light (1064nm): This wavelength reaches even deeper tissue levels and is used in research related to deeper tissue support and recovery.

What I Loved About This Device

Beyond my skin results, I appreciated how thoughtfully the device was designed.

The Total Spectrum COMPACT has:

  • 216 LEDs
  • pre-set modes (including the Skin & Anti Aging mode I used)
  • adjustable settings
  • remote control
  • flicker-free technology
  • low EMF levels at the recommended distance

But my favorite feature? How realistic it was. The most advanced device in the world won’t help if you never use it. The fact that I could sit down for 10 minutes at night and make this part of my normal routine is what made me stay consistent.

My Final Thoughts as a Nurse

After three months, I don’t look like a completely different person, and that was never the goal.

I still look like me. Just with skin that looks healthier, smoother, and more refreshed.

Red light therapy is a long game. It’s about supporting your body’s natural processes over time, not chasing an instant fix. Taking progress photos reminded me that sometimes the small daily habits are working, even when we don’t notice the changes happening day by day.

As both a nurse and someone who wants to age well, the RLT Home Total Spectrum COMPACT has become one of my favorite additions to my skincare routine, and it’s something I plan to continue using long-term.
